• Gun Crazy (1950): Perhaps the most famous of the bunch, this is a quintessential "couple on the run" noir. It's highly regarded for its innovative cinematography.
• Private Hell 36 (1954): This film features Ida Lupino (who also co-wrote it) and follows two detectives who find a stash of stolen money and decide to keep it.
• The Wayward Girl (1957): A classic example of the "juvenile delinquent" or "bad girl" exploitation films that were popular in the late 50s.
• Teenage Crime Wave (1955): Another "youth-gone-wild" flick involving a girl wrongly accused of a crime who gets mixed up with a pair of fugitives.
• Vendetta (1950): A period piece produced by the eccentric Howard Hughes. While not a "gritty city" noir, it shares that dark, vengeful tone.
